We are proud to recognize Laura Sewall for her outstanding contributions to both Eastern Insurance and her community in our latest #EIGSpotlight. Whether at our office in Marshfield or at the Wellfleet stop for the Pan Mass Challenge, you’ll always find Laura lending a helping hand and representing the #JoinUsForGood movement.
Laura’s commitment to her industry is not limited to her position at Eastern Insurance, where she is an Account Manager II in our Personal Lines Department. Laura helps manage our specialty Historic Firearms Program. A 30-year veteran of the industry, Laura appreciates the opportunities presented by a long, stable, and professionally satisfying career in insurance, and helps to encourage others in the industry through her involvement with the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women. She is currently serving as the Director of the Association’s Plymouth Chapter, while simultaneously serving as the Vice President of the Massachusetts State Chapter. In these roles, she helps the Association offer continuing education classes, community service opportunities, and networking events for its members. The Association also provides unique educational seminars at its meetings on everything from Gun Safety to Financial Planning and comes together to provide scholarships to high school graduates.
In addition to volunteering within the industry, Laura is very involved with non-profits and charities around Massachusetts. Specifically, for the past 13 years, she has volunteered with the Pan Mass Challenge by working at the Wellfleet water stop along the route. Additionally, Laura has taken on the role of ‘participant,’ along with several of her fellow Eastern Insurance colleagues, by completing the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk for two years in a row. The walk follows the full 26.2-mile route of the Boston Marathon, including passing directly by the Eastern Insurance headquarters in Natick. Last September, Laura obtained the prestigious Jimmy Fund Pacesetter status by becoming one of the top fundraisers for the walk, raising $3,673! She was ranked number 279 out of 1289 Pacesetters in 2017.
Laura has also walked in, and volunteered, for the Naomi Bagdon “Believe in a Cure for Pancreatic Cancer” Walk for two years, competed in the iCycle spin challenge with the Eastern Insurance team on behalf of Home Start, ran the Thompson Island 4K Trail Run, volunteered at the Three Stooge’s Golf Tournament fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and has volunteered at an ALS One fundraiser.
When Laura isn’t volunteering and spreading good to others, you can find her spending time with family and friends, riding her motorcycle, and boating off the coast of Massachusetts.
On behalf of the entire Eastern Insurance team, we would like to thank Laura for all that the good she has done for our organization and our community.
