At Eastern Insurance, we pride ourselves on our collaborative work environment. . Our team approach is essential to offering our clients the high level of attention and service they deserve.  This summer we added several new interns to our offices and even though they were only with us for a short time, they were able to learn not only about the insurance industry but working as a team in a corporate environment. For our latest staff spotlight, we’re excited to introduce you to three of our summer interns, Michaela Casey, Emily Bernard and Xiaofan Gao!

Michaela Casey

Michaela is a rising sophomore at Suffolk University studying politics, philosophy and economics. Over the last few months, she worked in our Personal Lines Division helping to organize the data system in preparation of the transition to a new Customer Management System, as well as many other tasks throughout the course of her internship. During her time at Eastern Insurance, Michaela enjoyed working with computers and the new programs and found everyone to be helpful and welcoming from her very first day. Outside of the office, Michaela took a family trip to Martha’s Vineyard which was the highlight of her summer!

Emily Bernar

Emily is a student at Keefe Tech studying legal and protective services. She and Michaela worked side by side this summer, often collaborating on their projects. Throughout her internship, Emily was excited to get more familiar  with different computer systems and procedures. She valued her time learning from the other Eastern Insurance employees who were willing to share their own experience and knowledge. This summer, she took a trip to Europe, visiting Dublin and Italy, spending time in Tuscany and Rome!

Xiaofan Gao

Xiaofan is a rising sophomore at Bentley University and spent her internship working in our Commercial Lines Division. She was instrumental in many data analytics projects, and really enjoyed the variety of tasks she was able to experience. Having the opportunity to work with many different employees at Eastern Insurance and to learn from each of them was the highlight of her time here. Feeling a bit nervous at the beginning of the summer, she quickly adapted and felt welcomed by all in the office, and in particular, enjoyed chatting with everyone and hearing funny anecdotes about their lives. As her first “real-world” work experience, she was able to fit right in and handle any task she was given.

Over the last few months, these three dove right in to each project  they were assigned and were eager to learn all they could during their internship here at Eastern Insurance. We’re so proud of them and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
